PREP

Together in Happiness/B’Yachad B’Osher has been the exclusive partner since 2011 of the world acclaimed PREP (Prevention and Relationship Education Program) curriculum developed by Professor Howard Markman and his colleagues at University of Denver’s Center for Marital and Family Studies. PREP is the premier most scientifically researched Marriage Education program.

Based on over twenty years of research, PREP, represented in Israel by Together in Happiness, teaches marital/premarital couples essential skills: how to communicate effectively, work as a team, solve problems, manage conflict, and preserve and enhance love, commitment and friendship.

Long term studies on past participants show they are now less likely to get divorced, and will experience significantly higher levels of marital satisfaction. Published studies are available on request.

I-PREP

Israel – Prevention and Relationship Education Program

Together in Happiness has adapted a version of PREP for Israel’s unique population. The adapted  trademarked version is named I-PREP (Israeli PREP). It has been used to help hundreds of Israeli couples obtain critical communication and conflict resolution skills.

I-PREP:

  • For normative couples
  • Is not marriage counseling or therapy
  • Is an educational program that gives effective, scientifically-proven tools for marriage communication

I-PREP Workshop Goals:

  • Focuses on “dynamic” risk factors (things that we can change) and healthy, positive communication
  • Helps couples build and maintain long-lasting, healthy relationships
  • Helps partners to communicate and listen
  • Teaches problem-solving skills
  • Fosters a commitment to the relationship
  • Teaches the communication Speaker-listener technique
  • Conflict management,  recognizing danger signs and time-out technique

Advantages of I-PREP

  • Learn to talk to each other more effectively in a structured way
  • Learn to listen to each other better
  • Develop and nurture friendship
  • Opportunity to discover and discuss potential issues
  • Learn how to protect your friendship and show respect for one another
  • Gain a  toolbox of techniques to enhance and enrich your relationship
  • Strengthen protective factors (friendship, fun, commitment, and spiritual or religious connection).
  • Weaken risk factors (negative interaction and unrealistic expectations)
  • Gain knowledge you need before settling into destructive patterns that often lead to divorce

Curriculum based scientifically researched model:

  • In-person or online
  • Two two-hour sessions with a facilitator, preferably in a workshop setting
  • A group setting (up to six couples) is a non-threatening approach with no need to share your feelings with the group
